In 1999 I had been reading about the Van Reet pigeons, after reading about their aggressiveness and how good they were on widowhood I decided to try them. I was able to get two hens from my friend Larry Nelson, I bred winners and clock birds from these hens right out of the first nest. From another flyer in my area I purchased a Van Reet Male, he was a son of "Time" and "Peggy" from Frank Mclaughlin. From these three birds and three more birds from Larry Nelson (two brothers and a sister) I bred my present day family of Van Reets. The last hen I got from Larry Nelson (a niece of "Dixie") bred my "Boss" 4 time combine winner. What a pleasure it was racing this family for the 5 years I was able to (our club dwindled to 2 or 3 flyers and then folded). They won almost every race they were entered in when flown on widowhood, with multiple birds on the drop.

This family has also done well for others, still not able to race birds I am offering breeders and young birds to the sport.

This family is based on my Mussolini birds. My Dad Claude Weaver purchased many Mussolinis starting in 1970 under the watchful eyes and scrutiny of many in our club and combine, after flying these birds for the first five years just about everyone wanted them. Many got them from us and were winning right away, one elderly flyer came to look at and handle the birds and said we should be winning every race! Haha! In 1990 I moved from Maryland to Florida where they did win many more races for my son and I, in 2005 my son Joe Weaver Jr. built a loft, racing both families Van Reets and Mussolinis he won the 1st five positions in his first race entered. Now at present day I have added some new blood to these birds and have decided to make my own strain and call them "Dream Weavers". The last few years I have been putting some birds in different lofts and have gotten good feedback both flying and breeding. The last time I flew these birds myself in 2005 a Dream Weaver hen I call "Bella Concetta" won 1st Florida in the Southeast Open 500 mile by 2 hours, she was 4th overall losing 1st by 30 seconds.

I am offering young birds to the sport.
